2.5L to 4.0L

i am sereously thinking of putting a new engine in my 88 jeep. it currently has a 2.5L with a 5 speed tranny. it is prooving not to be enough power. my tranny is going bad and i would like to replace it also (i still want a manual). i think that the best option for me is a 4.0L because it is the ideal swap, but any ideas on a cheap engine and trany would be helpfull. also if you could tell me what the best swap is then it would be helpfull thanks.

Re: 2.5L to 4.0L

the 4.0 L is a bad swap for a YJ, it is better to swap a vortec v6 or even a V8.
I am going to swap a 2.7 Mercedes 6L turbodiesel with 5speed auto/triptronic manual ...
My best advise is to go to advanceadapters website and take a look. I have their catalog and that is what they say...
