why no rock sliders for CJ-5

I've been looking for some real rock sliders for my CJ-5, but found most of them are made only for CJ-7s. I really like the warn style, and figure I may get those and then cut them to fit. but whats the deal? why not for CJ-5s? I know, I know, I should make my own... But I gots no skills. anyone know who makes bolt up sliders for a cj-5 like the warn style?

Go to your local welding shop. Have them cut you some 2x6" angle iron with the angles you want on the end. I hope you can operate a drill.

This company in Colorado makes some serious protection. They do make rockers for your 5, check em out, they will also make custom panels if your running TJ flares, etc.

Re: why no rock sliders for CJ-5

Those spyder rockers look nice, but I will check out the local metal supply shop this week for prices on some angle... When I said no skills, I mean welding skills. However, I'm not sure what I will end up with... I still really like the extra round section on the Warn style that sticks out a little further and they come powder coated. I just was wondering if I would be the 1st one to try cutting them to fit a CJ-5. If 2x6 angle is less than $100 for both sides, I will have to go with that. Anyone know what kinda of price I should expect?

LEVE, i see what you mean about those dang annoying long links going off the screen... they are a pain

Go to your local metal shop and have them break (bend) you a rocker panal. There will be a nice round corner that will fit your body panal. You can cut them to fit or have them do it. For my cj5 it $45 total. I cut them to fit myself.

Amen brother!
I did the same thing JimD did. 2"x6"x3/16" plate. The nice smooth bend fits the body much better than angle iron.

Re: why no rock sliders for CJ-5

i should have some for sale in a couple of weeks for about $100 plus shipping.

www.troutindustries.com

the rockers aren't up yet, but will be soon. they are laser cut out of 3/16" 1018 steel plate. the vertical face is 5.5" tall and the horizontal lip under the tub is 2". all mounting holes are pre-cut and they extend from wheel opening to wheel opening. i sell them unpainted with no mounting hardware for $100 plus shipping for the pair.

i'll try to post some pics tomorrow. or, email me and i'll send you some pics that way.

Re: why no rock sliders for CJ-5

here they are:

i have checked all the prototypes of the rockers and everything seems just fine.

they are 5.5" tall in the vertical face and have a 2" lip under the tub. the are laser cut and broke out of 3/16" 1018 steel plate. they extend from wheel opening to wheel opening and some minor flare trimming may be required. they come un-painted with no mounting hardware for $100 per pair plus shipping (around $20).

post any questions here or email them to me at [email protected]

matt

the pic below (out of focus) shows all driver-side rockers. from the top, down, i have TJ, YJ, CJ-8, and CJ-7. i do not have CJ-5 rockers in the pic, but they look just like the CJ-7's, only shorter.
