CJ-5 factory tops

Seeing as my CJ, not rany of my firend's CJ's came with the factory tops, I know nothing of their integrity. Would it be worth it for me to track down the origonal harware and purchase the Bestop replace a top?
I know supertops are fantastic, but i dont know if wanna spend the $$ on one. I could spend the $200- $300 savings on some other much needed parts....

Re: CJ-5 factory tops

When I bought my `62 it only had a custom bikini that went from the windshield to the tailgate and used the roll bar as the anchor points. I was tough enough to drive this thing in the middle of Septmember in the Denver area, without doors or any heater. My yearly bonus came around and I got a Supertop from 4WP for a about $650.00 in 2001. I put it one and that's it in my avatar picture. I was looking on Ebay for Jeep parts one day and came across a hardtop with doors. The bidding was going good and then, the buyer edited in,"MUST Pick up", well, the next thing I new is that 3 bidders withdrew and I got the top for $175.00. I have it on during the winter months now, I still don't have a heater. But, the snow stays outside. In the next couple of weeks I plan on taking the off the hard top and putting on the Supertop. This top came with zip out sides and 2 piece doors. I can zip out the sides pull the top of the doors off and cruise with a full length bikini top like went I bought it. I would say that that top is one of the best upgrades I have made. L8r,

Now ya tell me! It worth the money. When I got mine they threw in a Bestop Bikini top at no charge. L8r,
