Anybody got any insight as to what the wires coming out of the check plug are for? One is black with a brown stripe, and the other one is black with a yellow stripe-I think. I'm 99% sure, but the flashlight was kinda dim, and its gettin cold outside, so I didn't spend a ton of time lookin at them. Could these be the wires for the shift light? My 90 YJ doesn't have a shift light, so I dunno. The light bezel above the steering column has an amber arrow pointing up in the bottom left corner, but there is no light socket installed there. Any help is always appreciated!!!

The only thing that I could find reference to in the 99 FSM is the crankshaft postion sensor on the bell housing. The only thing I could not find with the back up light switch. It's not mentioned anywhere in the manual ...at least in the index...the bulb ..yes ..but no switch. I thought that this might be what you're look at since there is no ****er linkage per se. The only reference I could find for the backup switch is in the automatic section where the neutral safety switch also has wires for this use.

Your shift light, I believe, is run by your PCM.

Back up lights.
Shift light is run by the computer I believe. [img]images/graemlins/grin.gif[/img]

The fill plug is on the drivers side with a 24mm hex head on it. Behind the intermediate plate on the rear case housing.

well, thnx for replies, but this plug is on the passenger side of the case!! My manual says driver side too, but it shows a pic of this plug, and it is most definitely on the passenger side of the case. [img]images/graemlins/confused.gif[/img] [img]images/graemlins/bs.gif[/img]

back up lights... and it is not the fill plug. that is on the drivers side.

I know in the case of my YJ, the manual was wrong.
