Herculiner makes bad hair gel/ Herculiner Question

Trust me.

Well, the bottom of the tub is POR-15'd and the inside is Herculined.

Man, that is a lot of work. At least I get to put away the solvents and paint for a while and get out the wrenchs and BOLT ON COOL STUFF. Hate painting.

Would post pics, but everyone has seen a lined tub before. Now I just throw the tub on the frame and send it off to the Roll Cage Guru.

and bad fingernail polish, too. Some of the younger kids might dig the "goth" look of black nail, but it took a while to get it all off, even with fingernail polish remover.
fortunately, I didn't have to POR-15 the YJ, just added the duraback? liner (got it at wallymart) One can did 2 nice layers, and 4 dollars got enought primer to make it all grey inside. I DO need to get a cheap digi camera.
As for the Wally world liner, I'm pleased with its looks and toughness. I dragged the back seat bracket across it when remounting it, and it didnt scratch a bit. Perp work was defintaly the hardest part, but it was worth it. Hopefully the lighter color interior makes the approaching summer bearable (already up to 85 degrees last week!) YUCK.

POR-15 doesn't come off any easier OR faster! Don't ask me how I know

You can just sit there and pick it off your skin, i have had luck using sponge, but it tends to turn your skin very very red from irritation.

ive found that the best thing for removing it from skin is a pumice stone, found in the girly section of the pharmacy. and its best not to use your mom's or girlfriends, as it fills up with the gunk you are removing......

Re: Herculiner makes bad hair gel

how much weight did it end up adding? I'd love to line my tub, but I'm already pushing 4500lbs. I've heard a good thick coat can weigh as much as 500 lbs.

Whoever you heard that from is a nut. I don't think people are renting forklifts to carry around one-gallon cans of Herculiner (about what it takes for a good, THICK coat on a typical CJ).

Re: Herculiner makes bad hair gel

I used a gallon and a quart, but still need to do the tranny panel. It is good and thick with 2 coats of POR-15 and a layer of TieCoat under most of it. Should stick. Looks good now that it is dry.

Re: Herculiner makes bad hair gel

Are you on drugs? 1 inch thick? No way, I just talked to the lineX last week and he said it is an 1/8 inch thick on the walls and 1/4 on the bottom. 1 inch thick would never dry and nothing would bolt back down, you would hear about everybody having to go to the hardware store to buy longer bolts and the gas, brake, and clutch pedal would not bottom out.
