Ignition Module questions

Hello all

Just installed a new ignition module in my thus far bone stock 84 258 CJ-7 now it runs terrible. It sounds different, its got no power when gas is applied and sounds like its not timed properly.

When I checked the box the new module came with there was a little note taped inside . It read "The original ford application contained seven (7) wires and 2 plugs. In accordance with ford design we have eliminated the BLUE wire
form the 3 terminal plug.
this module contains six(6) wires and will replace earlier applications. no mods are required"

My question is is this blue wire important?
Has anyone else had this problem?
I called the parts Guy and he said the 3 different models he has all have 6 wires

Thanks in advance

Sean

Re: Ignition Module questions

If they are 3 different part numbers, I'd change out the modules until I found the right one!!! Of course if it was me doing it, the right module would be the LAST one I decided to try, forcing me to change the module 3 times.

Re: Ignition Module questions

The light blue wire looks like it is a start full spark assist. It should only come into play when you are turning the key. Go over all your conections, you will find a dirty one most likly the green or red.
