warn winch 8274

I need a little help. I was given a 8274 winch that had been setting in the back of a truck for about 6-10 years with out being used. All of the solinoids were junk and needed to be replaced the wiring was rotted the brake was frozen--coroded solid. I completly disassembled and rebuilt it and rewired it and it now works on the bench, my problem is that it runs backward according to the site on the internet that i followed the instructions for the overhaul. can it be possible that my cable is wrapped on the spool wrong? it comes out from the bottom, should it come off the top instead? when i put power to the solinoid to run the cable out the cable comes in and when i put power to the solinoid to run the cable in it goes out. web page

Re: warn winch 8274

my ramsey comes off the bottom. but it has a back and forth switch. the instructions had you hook it up try it then label the switch to match what it does...

how do you like using the rope as apposed to cable?

Re: warn winch 8274

the cable comes out the bottom of the spool. the 8274 spools in and out so you may just be feeding power to the out.
