There are also a couple idlers required. One suggestion is to head for the salvage yard (not the one with the late model builders) and look for late 70's-80's AMC products, i.e. Pacer, Matador, Hornet, Gremlin, and take it off yourself. A digital photo before you begin is a time saver, too. That way you get every nut and bolt, and even a belt to measure. The way AMC did it is not exactly logical, so if you start with a box full of parts and don't have some good pics, a diagram, a living example, or a memory better than mine, it can be an exercise in frustration. Good luck with your project.

It should be easy to build one if you have access to a welder. I made mine (for a york compressor) by welding two pieces of flat stock to form the bottom plate and a side plate. I made it to mount up to the alt bracket(lign up the holes and drill away). The verticle plate is on the left as you face the front of the vehicle. again, locate the holes on the compressor and drill away! I used washers between the plate and the compressor to shim the compressor so the belt will lign up. I have the serp belt and my CJ had the idler(?) pulley already on it. Then get a new serp belt that is for a CJ with A/C.
Good Luck
