When you push that button you can start the truck without the clutch being pressed. Can come in very handy if you want to use the starter motor to bump yourself over somthing, Or get up onto a trailer. Or if you have a remote starter.

Re: OT-toyota owners, name this button

yep, my 894runner has that also, I use it to start the truck while standing outside, if Im too lazy to reach in a depress the clutch also.

mine wouldnt work for a remote starter, since you have to press it everytime the key is turned off.

IM sure it woul be simple enough to change though.

Re: OT-toyota owners, name this button

I'm with Olin, use it to move the truck without slipping the clutch in. My 87 4runner has it. It's kinda a usless thing for me. I wouldn't want that kind of jump starting in gear. I would rather drive the vehicle. If you are in neutral and lazy you can start with out the clutch. Then you ride with that light on. I would like to see it used properly though.

It comes in handy in the winter for starting the truck and letting it warm up while I scrape Ice and snow off windshield.
