ENGINE ACTS LIKE IT FLOODS OUT @ 2000 RPMS

CAN ANYONE GIVE ME SOME HELP WITH THIS PROBLEM?
I JUST HAD THE CARB. LOOKED AT BY A PROF. HE ADJUSTED THE CARB. AND REPLUMMED THE VACUUM SYSTEM SOME. THE THE NEXT DAY IT STARTED TO BUCK AND JUMP FOLLOWED BY A STALL OUT @ HIGH RPMS. IF I LET UP ON THE GO PEDAL, IT WOULD CONTINUE TO RUN NORMALLY AT ABOUT 1500 RPMS. SOMEONE TOLD ME IT MIGHT BE THE FUEL PUMP. THANKS

Re: ENGINE STALLS WHILE DRIVING @ 2000 RPMS

VERY POSSIBLE! Please turn off the caps.

First thing, an engine dosn't stall at high rpm's, it dies. Stalls occur at idle. The first thing you have to do is determine if it is fuel or spark. If it was spark, and you have a tach, the tach would jump. So pay close attention to the tach when it dies. Another possibility could be the stator assy in the dist. When vacuum is applied to the advance, it will moves the primary wires, and over time will cause them to become open, and loose spark. A quick test for this is simply unplugging the vacuum line to the dist. and see if the dieing problem goes away.

There are a few checks that you can do on the fuel pump. Pressure, volume, and sucking air.

You may want to first try to determine if it is fuel or spark to hunt down the problem.

filter or pump losing pressure

I put a new carb. on mine and now under heavy demand (usually at the top of something) it dies

filters full of mud do that too. I'll try a diffrent pump when i get to it
