Re: Looking for AMC V-8 Alternator bracket

Both if I can get them or just the slide. I think the PO used the 6 cyl slide and just a bolt through the alt to the head. I can't get a belt to fit right. I have tried all different sizes. and either it is to small and the alt fan hits the slide or too long and the slide doesn't have a enough length to get a good fit.

Thanks

Re: Looking for AMC V-8 Alternator bracket

Take the belts somewhere that can MEASURE the length and adjust it to fit. There are devices especially made to measure belts, but a tape measure will work fine. If your relying on some pink parts flunky to find the right one, stop now.
I have a 304 and just use the bolt into the head and the slider.

Re: Looking for AMC V-8 Alternator bracket

Yea I did that, they gave all four sizes to fit. They let me do it outside the napa store but it is either too short or too long. the one thats on it now is okay but it could use a little more tension. I don't think I have the right slide. Can you tell me how long your alternator slide is so I can see if I have the right one.

Thanks

You can do what I did and get all the brackets and belts from a junkyard Wagoneer.
