Looking for a D300...

I'm thinking very seriously about swapping in a D300 into my YJ, and using the flip kit from down east offroad. Does anyone have a spare D300 laying around they'd be willing to part with? Let me know. Thanks!

Re: Looking for a D300...

Dave, if he wants to use his speedo he'll need the long output ones.

I'm pickin up a D300 this weekend. Hopefully I can get the money to put it in my TJ in a month or so.

Re: Looking for a D300...

I knew he had one(since he offered to trade), but didn't know he had multiple ones. I'll drop him an e-mail. Thanks! BTW - Any idea if it's possible to hook up my speedo to a short output one? Or must I go with a long output?

Re: Looking for a D300...

How much is the flip kit??

I'm guessing it's in the hundreds of dollars?? If it's like $150 maybe it would be worth the money.

If so, you're going to put way too much into it if you eventually rebuild it, clock it, put 4:1 gears in, a HD output shaft, twin stick, and the flip kit. What about a dana 20 from an early bronco?

Or, if you really are planning to flip it and then build it, look at an atlas.

Re: Looking for a D300...

The flipkit goes for around $660 or so. This is quite a chunk of change, but it requires no adapter to bolt up to my AX15, I don't believe it needs to be clocked, and it comes with twin sticks. The D20 has gone through my mind, but they're spendy to add low gears to, and I want to do that eventually in the future. I would also need to buy twin sticks for it, and not to mention that they're hard to come by for a decent price. I think in the end I'll end up coming short of the price of an Atlas, and it should be just as beefy. Not to mention I won't have to plop $2400 down all at once with an Atlas. I can just build it as I go with a D300. Make sense, or still think it's a bad idea?

Re: Looking for a D300...

There is a rebuilt Dana 300 with Twin stick shifter, it is in Alabama. It listed on this website go to the classified section. I think it was $300 + shpg if your not nearby.

On that note - I read in the Petersens Magazine March issue that the 4:1 t/c used in TJ Rubicon is supposed to be available for like $1600 or so... ???
another option.

On the original question of post -
I have a D300.
How big of hurry are you? It is still in an '85 CJ so it would need to be removed and cleaned before could be shipped and that could take some time.
Trades are good... I could use BH for AMC to T-150 also windshield frame and windshield hinges and driverside tilt forward seat bracket for '76 and up CJ. Of course, cash is fine too.... given trading problems with distance from OR to MI

Here's a link to the flip kit, it's about $800.00. http://www.jeepbox.com/xfercases.htm They have kits for TJ's, XJ's and YJ's. All at the same price. L8r,
