Clutch for 81 cj-5

My clutch is starting to slip and I was wondering what do you go by to determine what kind of clutch you need. Pretty much every thing is stock except for it has a 350 in it. It came with a GM 151. So can I get a clutch assembly for an 81 cj-5 w/ GM151 or am I going to have to get a cluch for a 350. It looks like the same bellhousing was used for the engine swap. So Im guessing that I should be able to use a stock clutch. What do you guys think

Re: Clutch for 81 cj-5

I would bet you have the 10.5" clutch, and I would also bet you could use the 11". All you would need to do is get the pressure plate for the 11". A different pilot bearing may be required. The 11" would be better with that 350.

Re: Clutch for 81 cj-5

the Jeep T150 is 1 1/8:" 10 spline I think, and thats the same as alot of GM clutch disks, so Id be willingto bet you have been using an off the shelf M clutch set.

also, get the largest you can fit on your flywheel!

when you remove the old clutch, youll see the bolts and oles that hold the pressure plate to teh flywheel, if there is another set of holes that are farther out, get the next size larger clutch.
