AX5 / NP231....... Which Fluid to Use
Well, I'm still trying to gather everything up for the drivetrain fluid change. I'm going to swap fluids in the engine, tranny, transfer case, front axle, and rear axle. I like using Valvoline full synthetic in the 2.5L engine, but was wondering about using a full synthetic in the rest of the drivetrain. I've heard good things about the GM Synchromesh, but it's only a synthetic blend, not a full synthetic.
Anyone here ever used a full synthetic in their whole drivetrain? Is there even a full syntetic available, and if so, what is it called.
Also, how about using the same stuff in the transfer case as you use in the trany and axles. The manual calls for 75w-90 gear oil for the tranny and axles, but it calls for ATF fluid for the transfer case. I've heard of people using the same gear oil in the transfer case, but I don't want to screw anything up if it's gonna happen.
