Ignition coil test

I am new at this, and have tried the search but couldn't find anything. I have an 83 CJ-7 and have an electrical problem. I have changed the wiring harness, distributor, coil, cap, rotor, ignition module, and battery most of these because they needed it. But now I am triing to do the coil primary circuit test by the Chilton(page 2-14), and the control unit and sensor test(page 2-14), and the ignition feed to control unit test.

My question is where do I find these pins to check for continuity? Like D1, D2, D3, D4, B2, B3, F2, C1, and connector AV. It doesn't refer me back to a figure to look at or am I just missing it. I hate electrical work!

I appreciate any information you can pass on to this totally lost rookie.

Re: Ignition coil test

I'm not sure on the newer Jeeps on the coil test, but, you could test it by hooking back together and having somebody crank the ignition while the coil wire to the cap is is off but laying within a inch of the post and see if the spark jumps across the gap. Here is a good tech page that I have in my bookmarks. http://home.sprynet.com/~dale02/home.htm He has a lot of good thinks to do to the late `70's to mid `90's Jeeps. L8r,
