Steering Shaft Question

I am still in the process of replacing my CJ tub with an 87 YJ tub. I found now that I have the steering column in place that my steering shaft is now 2 inches too short. I believe this is because the YJ has a raised firewall where the column penetrates the firewall. Would it be possible to use a YJ shaft, would it be long enough, or do I need to look at the after market?

Re: Steering Shaft Question

What year Cj do you have? I just bought a `75 CJ5 frame that was stretched 10 inchs to put a YJ tub on. Do you have any pix of the project? Thanks,

Re: Steering Shaft Question

Measure it and get a hold of Borgeson or Flaming River. They will make one to that length. Really not much more $ than a common one. Will be around $200 probably. My guess but call, they are great for steering anyway.

Re: Steering Shaft Question

BigUgly,
I have so many pictures of ever aspect of the project, I'll post em here if you tell me what you would like to see. I picked my YJ tub, and Windshield from
Jeeps Unlimited New & Used Jeep Parts
4245 Welc County Rd 6 ERIE, CO 80516-8202
(303) 828-9020
That's a very good resource for parts and knowledge. A bit pricey but they literally have every used part you could want.
Let me know about the pics, I could also email em too you if you'd like.
