Re: PICS OF MY DAMAGE!

Is that snow on the ground you're having to work in? I don't envy you that! I'm living through the great President's Day Blizzard right now and would not want to be outside under my CJ.

Good luck getting it all fixed up and running again.

Re: PICS OF MY DAMAGE!

that doesn't look pretty, proven reason d35's are junk. Arn't you running 215 or some tinny tires like that?

Re: PICS OF MY DAMAGE!

yes...thats snow....and it sucks..i have no garage cuz i live here at college (northern Ill Univ)

pretty sad i broke it with a 4 banger and 30" tires......im thinking maybe there was a metal defect or something....

i was playing in the snow....and i got a lil high centered on a snow pile....spun tires a bit, and they suddenly got traction and POP!

andy (jeeper99xj) is gonna hook me up with a ford 8.8, his buddys welding it up, then we'll bolt it in here in my drive way.....hopefully the weekend of march 7th if all goes well

Its my first major breakage (not counting u-joints, and radiators and all that other small stuff)

it's not what you have. It's what you do wth what you have

[/ QUOTE ]

Elusive that is a very profound statement!!!

The D35 has served me for years, since 87 to be exact with no problems at all.
It has had 32's for the 1st 6 years and 33's for the remainder with ARB's and 4:56 gears. It's more in the way thier driven as to whether they are a POS or not. Ive seen 44's and 9"er's get busted the same way as this one get high centered and give it hell instead of get of the gas. naturally something will break as soon as the tire grabs traction. Ive also seen the u-joints give way here.

Something about the male species that just will not subject themselves to a little yank or tow to get out of a situation. . I know i have been there myself .

I agree the 35 is a little light but will work just fine if you adust your driving style a little.

Well that said I should say this is for Rocks only I cannot speak for sand or mud, i don't do those. That has a different setup. Higher gears and more HP

Re: PICS OF MY DAMAGE!

thats why im still thinking it was a metalurgical defect.....my buddy had a YJ and we beat the piss out of it for a looooong time and never had axle problems...

oh well....im getting excited for my future 8.8 which hopefully will never ever ever break!
