fuel pressure regulator leaks!

I recently put a Weber carburator on my 87 cj7. They recommended I put a fuel pressure regulator before the Weber to keep the pressure down around 2-3 lbs. I put on a Purolator which started spraying gasoline all over my motor in a few weks. I replaced it last month with a NAPA regulator [ It looks just like the Purolator} and it started spraying gasoline last night. Is there a better regulator available? I'm lucky I've not had a fire! Re: fuel pressure regulator leaks!

Did you use any teflon tape or sealant on the threads of the nipples on either end of the FPR? If not, it WILL leak. Mine leaked until I sealed up the threads really good. Hasn't been a problem since.

Re: fuel pressure regulator leaks!

I did the same thing, Weber and a Purolator regulator ran good for about two years then the jeep started running funny one day, kind of like it was sucking air. The next day had fuel all over the place when I started it to check it out. Replaced it with one from NAPA and its been on for about 6 months now. I took the old one apart and found that the diaphragm had torn and was causing the leak, once I saw that it was just one more thing to add to the box just in case. I hate being stranded. Good luck.
