76-later springs into 74 cj-5

I,m new here here so if I mess up feel free to let me know.
I'm looking for advice on springs to use on my 74 cj5 with 304/T-15/D20. Currently I have the stock springs which are approx 1.75 inches wide.
How hard would it be to swap to later, better riding springs?
I've heard that the wider springs ride better because they are wider?
Any advice would be appreciated.
PS: I mostly use the Jeep for mud and old logging roads, and trips to work about once a week (just to keep her limbered up)

It`s not hard to swap the springs, you would have to replace the shackles, Spring hangers, Spring perches
on the axels, And the spring plates that hold the springs to the axel via the U-bolts. The later springs are
also longer as well as wider which means better flex as well as ride.

Re: 76-later springs into 74 cj-5

Thanks, I picked up a set of 2' lift springs (slightly used)to do this with. I already bought new U-bolts but the spring pads completely slipped my mind. Glad you reminded me before I tore it down this week.
Any idea how this will affect the right side pad on the front axle? Isnt it cast as part of the diff housing?
I know these are probably basic, but I was hoping to have all my stuff ready before I tore it all apart. (If it sits still for very long my wife thinks that it is broken and I should sell it!)
