Re: Tub Weight

It feels like its just shy of 400 lbs, but that's obviously no substitute for someone who knows.

Re: Tub Weight

Heavy! it took a couple friends and myself to lift my YJ tub. and it was all we wanted! I would say around 400 too.

Re: Tub Weight

I think it's closer to 300lbs. I lifted mine with one other friend without a problem. It would have been easier to move it around with more people, but two of us lifted it off the frame moved it 10ft sideways and flipped it upside down without any help.

Re: Tub Weight

Yes, and I'm not a small guy, but not very big either.

It was completely stripped down and much of the sheetmetal had already been replaced, so there was not even a lot of paint on it, but it didn't really have that much trouble.

Mine's a '76 model and I know there are some small differences with newer tubs, but I can't imagine it meaning a lot of weight difference. Maybe there is though, due to strengthening in later years or something.

Re: Tub Weight

Yep, same here, my neighbor and I lifted the old tub off the frame and carried it far enough to set it down a ways to the side. I'd also guess closer to 300lb, maybe less. We easily lifted the AJ's tub back onto the frame.

Re: Tub Weight

Work smarter, not harder ;-)
I've always had to handle them by myself (even my Scrambler tub). A few simple precautions and a few items like a moving dolly, moving blankets or an engine hoist can work wonders.

Re: Tub Weight

I had one shipped to me and the paperwork said 392 lbs. That also included the wood frame it was packed in and the cardboard wrapper.

My guess - Tub only 340-350 lbs.

A buddy and I lifted and attached mine after it was painted. We are both about 230 each. I will admit, we used a couple of moving dollies to keep the lifting to a min.

Re: Tub Weight

I'm voting for around 300lbs too. I'm not very big (165lbs) and me and one other guy lifted my YJ tub up and over the t-case lever and into place onto my CJ frame without much problem. I also moved my tub around my garage and loaded/unloded it from my trailer many times by myself(botht the 84 CJ & 91 YJ tubs). They are more awkward due to size rather than heavy.
