Collins Bros. Reputation?

I've seen lots of good stuff about Collins Bros. in the mags and see people point to them for parts...I need to rebuild my 258 or get a long block...Collins has a really good price on long blocks...with shipping and core it works out about the same to have mine done localy...Has anyone ever purchased a long block from them? Anybody gotten bad service from them on anything? Anything about them that could tarnish there good name?

If you can get it done local for about the same money there isnt much choice if you ask me! The trouble of shipping the core to them should be worth something. Besides use the local guys. They have to make a living too. And besides if you have any trouble down the road who is gonna be easier to get some help from? just my $.02 Wade

Re: Collins Bros. Reputation?

I live just down the road from Collins Bros. and have been going to them for years. I am extremely happy with their service. I have never gotten anything like a long block from them, just parts and help with projects. I'm doing the Mopar MPI conversion on my '85-7, Kevin back in service has been extremely helpful. He's always taken time to stop and talk to me whenever I stop buy. I think their prices are comparable to the big mailorder shops. For me, figuring freight cost and time, it doesn't save me much, if any, to mailorder. I've got to agree with wades that local folks are a great way to go though, that is another reason I use Collins. Even if I had to pay a few extra dollars I'd pay it to a local guy if they provide me with service I think is worthy.
