AX-15 Questions

Ok, while I`m swapping in the Atlas I need to install a new throwout bearing... where can I purchase one ?

Also - my tranny has about 97,000 miles on it.. while it's out should I rebuild it?? (running the first few minutes its hard to go in and out of 2nd gear, but after it warms up it seems ok..)

Re: AX-15 Questions

If you drive your Jeep hard enought that you need an atlas and you have nearly 100K on your current trans.. I would rebuild it. better to do it now, than to have to take it apart later. Plus you get piece of mind, and that is nice to have.

Thanks-

Do you know where Ican purchase the rebuild kit or the throwout bearing?

Or do you know if the throwout is included with the other bearings in the rebuild kit?

Thanks

Re: AX-15 Questions

Check with your local 4x4 shops for the rebuild kits or check with Mile Hi Jeep Rebuilders. These guys ship all over the world and have helped me ALOT! Re: AX-15 Questions

T/O bearing should be available at any parts store. Take a look on Novaks site, www.novak-adapt.com
for your AX-15 parts kit. Definitly rebuild that tranny.

Re: AX-15 Questions

The throw out bearing is usually bought with a new clutch kit, or I'm pretty sure you can get one from a auto parts store. L8r,

Re: AX-15 Questions

So if I take it into a clutch place and get a new clutch they will put a new throwout bearing in?

I ask because I have a performance clutch - and it's impossible to float it when off-roading...

I may not need to now though since the nicer crawl ratio.. just wondwering

Re: AX-15 Questions

The throwout bearing is in the bell housing isn't it? If not which part are you talking about? Do you have a manual on this Jeep? It should tell you how to replace it. L8r,
