Custom Jeep Trailer from a Srambler or CJ8?

Was wondering if anyone out there has ever fabbed a jeep trailer out of a scrambler or CJ8 tub? I'm looking into this as a project and to match my rig, and didn't want to purchase one of the off-road trailers available on the market. The larger tub would offer a larger flat floor for storage. I'm also entertaining using a jeep comanche pickup bed for the same, but the shortbed version. The pickup bed is easier due to the front being enclosed already, but fabrication isn't a problem. Lastly, if you have either of these two items let me know, or post us all a pic or two for the rest of us to share.

Thanks a Ton!!!

Both of those items seem like they would be hard to find. But if you're looking for form over function.. go for it

You can get cool little military trailers from http://www.govliquidation.com/

Have you checked what a CJ-8 tub costs? ~$3000. Used ones aren't cheap either.

Don't use a CJ-8 No one should every cut up a CJ-8 There are so few left. The pick up bed is a good Idea. And probably wouldn't be too hard to make work.

You could purchase corners and pannels and fab your own custom trailer.

- or -

You could get a 1/4 ton military trailer for $750 from Coleman's Surplus, Millersburg PA

http://www.colemans.com/lilbit.html

I think I'd get one of these if I lived closer.

Would it be ok then, to cut up a Scrambler? (hehe)

Seriously...

A solid one will be hard to find - true.
If you do find a solid one - it would be wrong to cut it up.

I think it would be a cool trailer.

Unless things have changed since the last time I was at Colemans most of their trailers were beat to hell and back. They're ok if you just have to have one NOW, but if you want something in good shape, keep looking.
