Power upgrade for rep4500--REPHRASE

I can get a rep4500 for dirt, and I am wondering if I can just bolt on a larger motor to increase the pulling capacity of this winch. Any Thoughts?

How about this: Could any of you measure the bolt pattern of the motor on say an rep8000? This 4500 has a small motor with a large flange that mounts the motor to the body of the winch. It appears that an 8000 uses the same bolt pattern, just without the large mounting flange that the 4500's motor uses.

Re: Power upgrade for rep4500

I can't answer your question positively but my gut feeling is that a more powerful motor will exceed the strength of the internal gearing. If you take one apart you will wonder why anyone puts their trust in such things, small shafts and gears, a Warn A2000 has plastic gears.

Re: Power upgrade for rep4500

This is what I was suspecting, but externally, the gearbox is the same.
