Narrowing a YJ frame??

Hi there, I'm planing on building a 1976 cj-7 from scratch! So first I have some questions about what frame would be best for this project? My manuals shows that a yj frame is 5 inch wider or so in the front compared to a cj,(not good if I wanta run narrow track axles??)However has anyone ever narrowed a YJ frame? It seems like there would only be 3 major cross members in the frame to be re-worked, plus new lengthened body mount channel brakets is really no biggy! If anyone has tried this what problems did you encounter? Thanks

Re: Narrowing a YJ frame??

I havent done it but yes it would be pretty simple. Do you already have a yj frame? Is it in good condition? If not why not just get some box tubing and make a frame? just a thought Mike
