Re: D18 Ramsey PTO value?

Are you buying or selling? I would think that it's fairly valuable. A SWAG would be a couple of hundred. It's one of those things that is worthless to all but a very, very few people, but worth a bunch to those few.

Since a D18 can use some gears from a D20, I wonder if the PTO would also fit a D20. I have no idea, but if it would, that would make your market a lot bigger.

Re: D18 Ramsey PTO value?

Jim_Lou I've heard some mechanics say they use the same PTO, however I have no personal experience if that is true. Only PTO winch (on a vehicle, we won't talk about equipment) that I've played much with was on my grandads old M37.

Re: D18 Ramsey PTO value?

I can't give you an answer on the value, but the PTO off of my D18 mounts where the tail shaft would be on a D20.So it would be impossible for that style to mount up to a D20.
Are there other style's that replace the pan?

Re: D18 Ramsey PTO value?

yes there are some that replace the pan but it also lessens your ground clearance. I sold a Ramsey PTO unit on ebay and got like $203 for it. so you decide what its worth. That was for the Spicer 18 tcase. Ebay is where I check to see what things are going for, check the completed items
Ramsey completed sale on ebay
this one if its the same sold for $250

Re: D18 Ramsey PTO value?

Mike and Frank, the Ramsey D20 PTO bolts in place of the pan. Gear clearance is adjusted by the number of gaskets used. But it doesn't necessarily decrease ground clearance, and it's still above the skid plate.

In an "easy" installation the PTO can interfere with the transmission mount. To clear the interference you add a spacer between the transmission and mount. That raises the transmission into the floor of the tub, so you compensate by putting similar thickness spacers between the skidplate and the frame, and your ground clearance is reduced by that much - a half inch or so.

Or you can replace the hump in the skidplate that the mount bolts to with a flat plate, and then make a spacer for between the transmission and the motor mount. Then everything winds up right where it was when it was born.

Re: D18 Ramsey PTO value?

I will be selling eventually. I'm not sure if it would fit a D20. It mounts right where the output shaft would be on a D20....

Thanks for the input!

Re: D18 Ramsey PTO value?

I have a ramsey pto unit that mounts in place of the pan on an 18 or 20. It's in excellent condition, and has both front and rear outputs. Was going to put it on E-Bay, but if anyone here wants it, first $200.00 takes it. I can post pics if you want.
