Ford tranny help

Yeah I know it's a ford, but it's for a friend of mine. Seems his tranny went and I'm trying to find out what he has and more importantly if my spare T150/D20 will fit. He's got an 88 F150. any help would be greatly appreciated. And yes I posted this on the Ford board, but just don't expect the knowledge that I can get over here. Thanks

Re: Ford tranny help

Depending on what transmission HE has, you may be able to bolt the T150 to the engine using the bellhousing. But Ford uses a front axle that has the "pumpkin" on the driver's side. You T150/D20 is from a jeep that has the pumpkin on the passenger side.

Ford also uses some "integral" bellhousing transmissions. Meaning the bell is NOT bolted on, it's part of the case of the transmission.

I don't think you'll have much luck swapping the transmission. Unless you wanna put it in, and only have a 2wd truck.
