Took part off carb, is this ok?

Installed a manual choke..I tryed about everything on my auto choke and it never worked right.
When I put the manual choke in, it wouldn't work right. There was a lever that I believe hooks up to my vacuum advance which moves my butterfly. It prevented the manual choke from working well(it wouldn't go up or down all the way or it would get jammed in the middle)
Well I took off the little arm and now the manual choke works.
Will this hurt anything?
Thanks

Joey ...get that digital cam out and take a pic. I think that you're talking about a vacuum diapham that pulls the choke open against the bi-metal electric choke and the throttle cam step.

I'm assuming you are talking about the choke plate. Butterflies usually refers to the throttle plates.

Just guessing that what you are talking about it the linkage that forces the choke plate open at wide-open throttle. I'd say, yes it could be a problem.

Nope, shouldn't be needed for the manual conversion.
