Hi Lift Jack Mounting--idea/pic request

Okay, I did a search for hi lift jacks, but didn't find what I was looking for. I was given a hi lift for Christmas (along with a gizmo that lets you pinch a cable for an anchor point anywhere along the length of the cable). Now I'm looking for ideas on mounting the critter on my jeep. Currently I have two ideas.

1. Mount it to the safari rack when I get it built.
2. Mount it on my rear bumper on the swing out tire carrier upright next to the spare.

I was hoping ya'll could help me out by posting pics of how you have your hi lifts mounted.

Thanks!

Re: Hi Lift Jack Mounting--idea/pic request

mounting it on the bumper is pretty common but sometimes it cant be accesible, like when you are against a tree. on top it can be a b$tch to reach, but anywhere is fine exept for the windsheild, make sure you lock it too, i should have payed for stock in that company, ive gone through a couple

1. IMHO...up high, where you could get at it in the case of trouble.
2. The places I favor are:
a. The Spare Rack.
b. Then up foward on the top of the front bumper.
c. Behind the back seats anchored to the wheelhouses or the roll cage.
3. It depends on how, where, and in what you wheel.
4. Are you going to enclose the jack to keep gunk outta it?

Re: Hi Lift Jack Mounting--idea/pic request

Right now I'm looking at mounting it on the rear bumper swing out behind the full size spare. That's fairly high. I don't want to mount to the front bumper as I plan on a drum for the front this summer. Putting it inside the tub is out too as it's a CJ5 without much room as it is! Well, that and I have a backseat in it for my daughter. I just was looking at the Quadratech catalog today and saw a hard plastic case to keep the gunk out....I may do that. However, if I mount it on the rear tire swing out, it stays very clean there, surprisingly. Thanks for the input!

Anybody with pics?

Re: Hi Lift Jack Mounting--idea/pic request

Two of my local buds (mbalbritton...CJ5 & whttrsh...TJ) have them mounted to the top of the rear fenderwells(CJ5) and bolted to the rollbar(TJ). Both have soft tops. A 48" Hi-Lift is pretty forgiving to mount inside a 60" wide Jeep. I've seen a few with the bases removed mounted under the hood. Seems to keep them clean , but a PITA to grab quickly.

Yet another front bumper placement

hardware used: 2 3/8" 5" (IIRC) grade 5 bolts, 2 nuts to keep them steady, 2 wingnuts, associated washers, and two 2" metal spacers.
