Which power steering box??

My current power steering box is leaking a lot and i would like to replace it with something better. I have an 83 CJ7 and i want something that will make turning 35's a little easier. I've heard about the wagoneer and camaro boxes and i dont want to shell out a lot for something like an AGR. So what is everybodies idea of the best steering box out there that willswap right in place of the stock steering box. Thanks in advance

Re: Which power steering box??

im running a 1978 wagoneer box.. and its great.. but... the input shaft is a different size.. so i had to use the coupling from the wagoneer on my steering shaft.. im not sure on the later waggy's.. i havent looked close enough to them.. and i havent looked into the camaro's.. so im not sure about their shafts.. but those boxes are pretty common.. you just want to make sure of the input shaft size..

Re: Which power steering box??

I know of guys who use the chrome nova box from summit, the problem with those boxes is that they have a quick turning radius, and wagoneer uses a rag joint that coupled with ta body lift can leave you stranded, but they will both bolt in, you can successfully rebuild your own box, Its been done before, Good luck

Re: Which power steering box??

you dont gain anytghing from a wag box, or camero box, or any othe rbolt on GM box, some may have differnt ouput splines (as JeepGoddes said) and they may also have different turning ratios.. other wise fix the leak or roll the dice!
there is a link out there for increasing the pressure and such of the stock GM system, Ill see if I can dig it up, im sure alot of folks here have it.
