OT - Chevy Dana 44 Disassembly Question

I'm taking apart a Scout Dana 44 that has Chevy outers. How does one take apart the puter hubs. They are internal Warn hubs and are almost rusted shut.

Thanks
Fritz

Re: OT - Chevy Dana 44 Disassembly Question

Take the 6 allen bolts out on the cover, first. Since you said rust, make sure you hammer the allen aocket in, before and while you are loosening the bolts. Once the allens are out take the outer piece off. You may need a screwdriver to help pry alittle. When the cover is off you will see the stub axle, there is a c-clip on the end, take that off. On the bearing hub there will be a big internal c-clip. That has to come off also. Have fun here. I normally use two very small screwdrivers and pry and hold it, to get it out. To get the rest of it out, i always just screw two of the allens back in a couple of threads and pull the piece out with the allens. The allens just give you something to grab.
