anybody got any info on putting a 302 in a 80 cj

ive got an 80 cj-7 with the 258 but the motor is just old and tired and money is tight right now but i have a 302 that is in good shape,i figured i would have to change motor mounts but would the tranny work or do i need an adapter,or change tranny any advice or tips ?any help would be helpful.

He means do a search HERE. On this BBS. It HAS been covered a bazillion times. Actually it has become the "swap of the moment". Change your search to 5.0 swap, and you'll have better luck. And it's the same motor/block.

Personally, I'd push for the 5.0 EFI swap. I went the 302 route first, and adding the EFI was NOTHING. Although my brother did save the day. I did most of the work, and he cleaned up the wiring.

What transmission do you have? The T150 or T176 makes the 302 swap a lot easier.
