Castle Nut problems

I was putting my lift on yesterday and when i replaced the pitman arm, my puller got into the castle nut a little, I thought no big deal I will just go to the part's store and get a new one.. Supprise Suprise, Aparently the one on the TJ is 12 mm, and aparently that is not common, so right now I have a sweet looking lifted tj that I cannot drive beacuse of a .69$ nut

I tried running a tap through it, but I really boogered it, and although the tap runs free, it does not thread at all.

I am goint to try my favorite Tractor store tomorow, but I am not expecting much luck.

Last ditch is to run one nut on, bottom annother onto it, with a carter pin above them It will not go anywhere, but I find it rediculous that I cannot buy this crappy little grade 5 castle nut anywhere.

I checked with Jeep and they can have it to me thursday for 8$ bucks but they said they have never sold one before.....

other than that the lift is going on SMOOTH, Had to get a coil compressor though.

Funny it took me 1 hour to get the frontend appart, and I fumbled with those springs for 2 hours, Went and got spring compressors from a friend, and put both sides back together in 15 min. Just have to finnish the rear.

Re: Castle Nut problems

Try your local Fastenal store. I don't know where you are located, but go to and use the store locator. It's part number 90692 M12-1.75 Castle Nut.

It's a slim chance they will have it in your local branch, but they should be able to get it from their warehouse and it won't be $8.00.
