What year cherokee is this?

I know the 2 door cherokee came out in 74 but I was wondering if someone could point out a site that shows what grills were used for what years. Anyone need anything off of this except the axles and transfer case? It has a 6 cylinder.

Thanks.

Re: What year cherokee is this?

if the trans is a T18 id like a shot at it!

if its a T150 then Jhoward ( check the "wanted : T150" post)

if you need help, or capital, or some one to drink beer and criticize the way your removing the parts give a shout! ha

Will-

It sure looks like a match for the model 16 Cherokee shown in the '74 and '77 FSMs.

It's an automatic and I'm hoping that means quadratrac. I'm going to use the front axle. For now, I'm going to swap in the rear so I don't have to get new gears for a while. I'll also use the rims since it's six lug.

Most likely it will be a QT case. Though the '74 FSM shows a 1 bbl, 258 ci, with the auto and a manual tranny. What a rocket that would have been!

Re: What year cherokee is this?

Wouldnt it be nice if the axles are already geared at 4.10:1 like yours?

probably optional with a 6 cyl, not sure about the automatic truck though.

Re: What year cherokee is this?

I have a jeep model identification chart that shows 2 different 2 doors. 74-78 with vertical slats and round headlights, and 79-83 with horizontal slats and rectangular headlights. also has model #1600 (74-78) and #1700 (74-76)

Re: What year cherokee is this?

My god! That's a dead ringer for the very first Jeep... in fact, the very first car I ever owned. It was a '76, with the 258,auto,and qtrac. I paid $1400 for it in 1991 and owned it happily for two years before some dolt in a Dodge Colt t-boned it and ruined her forever.

durnit... now I'm getting all misty....
