Making gastank skidplate?

I just dropped my gastank, and am going to build a skidplate for it. Any tips on doing this? Do the aftermarket ones(like Kilby) attach to the stock mounting points? Mine attaches to the rear crossmember and to a crossmember on the frame or tub. Think I'll be okay just attaching it there? I'm planning on probably using 3/16" or 1/4" on the bottom, and either 3/16" or 1/8" on the sides. Any thoughts? Pics are welcome! Thanks!

Re: Making gastank skidplate?

The one I bought (sorry, no fab skills ) from Four X Doctor is 3/16" front/bottom/rear and 1/8" on the sides. I can jack up the Jeep on the skid plate. I would definately attach it to the frame only. It is too much weight to be bolted to the bottom of the tub, and you don't want the front bolted to the tub and the rear bolted to the frame. Flex will kill it. Hope this helped.
