What driver\'s drop t-case that will bolt to TF727?

What is a good t-case that will bolt to the TF727? I am thinking about swapping some Waggy axles into my CJ7. I have a set with driver's drop front end and a 727 tranny. What t-cases have the same splines and bolt pattern as a D300 but have driver's drop front axle? I don't want to buy any adapters, or an ATLAS.

Thanks,
Tom

NP208, is probably the best one.

but there are alot of wags from 1980-1990 that had np219, np228,np229

all aluminum, chain drive with 2.6:1 low range.

208 is a pretty darn strong Tcase.

also if you could get one from a late 80s Xj or other a Np242, which has a great 4wheel part time, and full time setting, full time setting is great for snow/ice roads, and wet roads.

Well I have the NP229 from the Gwagon. Can you put a shift lever on it and use it like a D300?

im not real fameliar with that one, isnt it a full time case? does it even have a LOCK position to NOT differentiate between front and rear axles?

I have a 228, or 219 hanging out in teh garage, I havent messed with it in years tho, I cant recall how the shifter works.

Forget the 229. there is so much slip between the front and rear drives that if you get a little stuck, the differential will slip ALL of the power, giving you 0 wheel drive. Go for the 208. the fsj version is drivers drop, fixed rear yoke. half of the bad rap the 208 gets is due to the chevy version's slip yoke.

I thought the 229 wasn't worth much. What Jeeps had the 208?

Thanks,
Tom

I had a 1980 full sized CHerokee with V8 auto, and np208, it came in J trucks and cherokees after 1980, some wags too, but probably the ones with few options.

You could always flip the D300 with a kit, though that may defeat the purpose of trying to save $$. I think it's like $800.

Hey Canis,

I thought about flipping it, but am looking for a cheaper solution. I am going to look around for a 208, maybe someone will trade a 208 for my 229??? I doubt it....

Later,
Tom

Hey Tom,

goto IFSJA and put out a feeler, and browse the ads, they should hook you up in short order.
