TJ transmission.. which years

which year did jeep switch over to the NV3550, was it in 2000.. i know the 98's use the AX-15 still... and do they use the NV3550 in the 4 cly TJ's too? and what year did they go to direct ignition not using the cap and rotor..thanks!

the nv3550 was all new for 2000
the 3 coil rail thingy... Im not sure.. I know my 97 has a distributer, and my wifes 2000 is distributerless....

Elusive, I thought they didn't switch trannies until 01. But they did switch from a distributor to distributorless ignition in 01.

Oh yeah, the 4 cyl continued to use the AX4 tranny. I'm not sure what the new 4 bangers use. Cause they switched to the 4 cyl they use in the neons.

gigalo.. i have to agree since my wifes 2000 has the nv 3550 and it's distributer-less..

yep- 2000
got mine from a 2000TJ. is a easy swap out for the peugeot. AA has the parts you will need ie t-case shifter linkage, pilot bushing and clutch line. the 3550 bell fits the 4.2. i used the 4.2 flywheel, clutch and pressure plate.
