Speedometer Quit on way to work....quick thoughts?

I did a quick scan and it still is connected at both ends. I'm thinking its either the cable is bad or would a broken speedo gear in the T-case cause?

Just gettin' some info.

1. Yep,
2. Cable.
3. Transfer Case speedo gear.
4. The speedo itself (I hope not).
5. Pull the cable and apply a drill to the end and spin.
6. You'll soon know!

Ben - when mine quit working, it was the cable. If it turns out to be your cable also, use some dry graphite on the new cable before you install it. Just pull the cable out of the sheath and dip it into the dry graphite and then put it back into the sheath. I had a bouncing speedo needle even after I put the new cable in and this cured it for me.

I cann't help you if it is the gear.

I hope for your wallets sake that it isn't the speedometer.

My cable broke at the t-case. I could still pull out the end with my fingers though.

Cool, thanks for the info....not that the speedometer is correct, but at least I can judge, just a little math!

figures, get oil pressure guage working, speedometer quits, temp guage this weekend....well I hope nothing else quits!

Until I learned to be careful how I routed it, mine got up against the exhaust a couple times and melted the sheath which in turn grabbed the inner cable.
