Roll Cage Tubing

Just wondering what type of tubing should be used in a cage. Is DOM a good choice or is there some other type. Any info would be great.

Re: Roll Cage Tubing

Ive had fantastic results with PVC, painted black, and liquid nails on the plates to tie it to the frame.

try the search button for more info on my awesome cage designs.

I have NEVER owned a bronco, although I went thru a period where I wanted An early bronco, but I never acted on that.

For smoking tobacco, right Ozark?

My buddy used some Sch. 40 or something similar for one of his friend's cages. I don't think that is too bright of a move, but that's just me. He also said he'll use DOM for his cause he doesn't want it to fail. Go figure, huh?

Re: Roll Cage Tubing

I've used schedule 40 steel pipe for cages and side braces when I raced dirt track. Last year I built a snow plow frame for my farm tractor and it works great. It's not as light as chrome moly but I wouldn't think twice about using it for a roll cage.

Re: Roll Cage Tubing

I would sell my jeeps and go buy another Honda civic before I built a cage out of freakin pipe! I dont care how thick it is. That is one thing you dont skimp on. Unless you are going to use pvc and the proper cement for it!

Re: Roll Cage Tubing

Prove your statement with some real data. Most who don't know still think they already have a roll bar in their jeep when they really don't. Jeeps never came with a roll bar.
