I have a suggestion but since you have "revernd" in your title I best keep it to myself Actually Im gonna do about the same thing in a couple weeks. I work at a LARGE gear manufacture and were building a gear fourty eight feet in diameter for a bridge in N.Y. Ill be posting a pic of it in a couple weeks , imagine that crawl ratio!

How does one go about building a gear so large? And how do you transport a 48 ft gear from Ohio to NY? Sounds interesting, what kind of tools and whatnot is used?

Ahhhh! Brings back memories of the old Allison V-12's that were used in the old Unlimited Hydroplane race boats.
Nothing sounded like those screaming piston powered boats. Nickmil.

I'll alert Team "Miss America" and Team Strega immediately! Both had engine problems this year at Reno....and they banged up Miss A pretty good when they set her down...real bummer. Beauty of a P-51.

Hmmm....wonder how many sets of CJ hoods and fenders you'd have to weld together to get a long enough nose for that V-12!

The gear is for the Macombs Dam Bridge over the Harlem river in the buroughs of Manhattan and Bronx N.Y. I wasn't going to mention it till I was able to post a picture cause I figured no one would beleive me any way. My companys name is Horsburgh&Scott in Cleveland Ohio they have a web page but it's kinda lame (not many pictures)
