Removing studs/ d300 mount?

The dana 300 i just picked up has 2 studs sticking out of the mounting area. Should they be there? Does the Dana 300 have studs attached to it that nuts go to or is mounted with bolts? If it has studs what size are they if i need to replace them. How do you remove studs (i've always wanted to know either way)?

Put 2 nuts on the stud and tighten them into each other and use a wrench on the top nut....or a pair of vice-grips

Use the top nut for installing them but the bottom nut for removing studs. A stud remover works even better though. I miss my dad's tools sometimes.
