Hello all.* I'm attempting a ford 5.0 swap into my TJ and need some assistance with some issues I've run into. I don't think this has been done yet, mainly because of emisions legality issues, but I really don't care about that. I'll be using a AA adapter for my stock trans to a f150 blhsing, and weld in motor mounts ( that's going to be fun). the motor install isn't the problem,* it's the complexity of the computers and wiring in the TJ that are scaring me off. I'm begining to think it may be impossible with out completely re-engineering the vehicle.
1. wiring??? I don't think getting the motor to run will be a problem, the ford ECM is pretty basic, it's all the little stuff on the jeep that bother me.* (I.E. fuel pump, airbags, auto-shut down relay, CCD bus and associated circuts.) Jeep engineered the TJ really well and I need a little help de-engineering the wiring system.
2. fuel delivery.* I think the stock pump will be enough to feed the motor, but I've discovered a couple problems.* the pump is driven off of a signal from the crank position sensor and there is no fuel return line. I think I can rig up the CPS to the dampener or some other rotating assembly on the motor.* I think I can splice in a T-fitting into the fuel line and reroute the excess fuel back through the stock fuel line. Any ideas or comments here would be appreciated.
3. Can the stock guages be adapted to work with the ford ECM?
