Help! Carb Issues on Initial Rebuild Startup!!!

i just tried to fire up my rebuilt and re-wired 304. Engine good, fuel control bad. i had bought a Motorcraft ReMan from Holley and it is shooting fuel out the top vent holes. Also, the accelerator circuit (pump) does not squirt any fluid when the linkage is pulled. The engine will run, then the pump catches up, and starts pouring fuel out the top of the carb, then the fuel is sucked in the top, thus flooding.
i'm trying to think of other possibilities but i keep coming back to carb blame. Any suggestions or previous experiences are greatly appreciated. i just want to Jp...

Ok.

i would really like to know why gas is shooting out the top of my 'new' carb!

Has anyone ever come across anything like this?

Does anyone rebuild the 304 Motorcraft carb?

Re: Help! Carb Issues on Initial Rebuild Startup!!!

Well thats the trouble with buying store bought rebuilt carbs. It's not all that uncommon, sounds like there is a problem with the neddle and seat. The best thing to do is just take it back and get another one I've had to change 3 out before I got a good one.

Carbs are just one of those things that are touchy and even if you rebuild them yourself you have troubles from time to time. Just because it says holley rebuilt it means nothing IMO anything that says holley is just good for target practice anyway unless your racing and like to work on carbs all the time. But sence holley didn't build it there is hope

Just keep calm and get a replacment or open it up yourself and fix it but if you do the later you may void the warranty.

Thanks. Good to hear. i'll try to have it replaced. If no luck i'ld rather rebuild it myself. Ruined a beautiful orange paint job. Aside from that, the engine fired right up. i've never seen fuel just shoot ou the top of a carb...
