Calling all fabricators! Need a favor

I'm sure all of ya'll have seen this pic

I was wondering if anyone here could build me a bed just like that? I know I know get out and build it myself, but I dont have the time. I'll pay anyone that has some free time to build it for me prefer fairly close to the south so I can come pick it up! Thanks...

Re: Calling all fabricators! Need a favor

I'd go to the junkyard and look for an old Nissan or Mazda pickup bed instead of building one from scratch. It would be easy to shorten the bed and weld it back together...and it would be MUCH cheaper.

It's a little surprising that nobody else has picked up on this.

I don't have the facilities to make a bed from scratch, but I like Dan's idea. I can shorten a bed for you.

Re: Calling all fabricators! Need a favor

Check out an old Toyota pickup bed from the 70's. It has a shape like that. Id believe the early 70's were a little bit mor boxy... It looks good, hmmm!!! I have to CJ5"s and two jeepsters. Maybe the jeepster frame with a shortened CJ tub????? I have one jeepster frame in the garage getting coils and full size axles, just might have to change my plans on one of those jeepsters. I already have the half cab from my scrambler!!!!!!

Re: Calling all fabricators! Need a favor

Here's what it could look like. It was recommended that a pickup bed be used. I have considered using an old Datson or Toy bed as they have a similiar shape. Since this isn't a currently project for me, I haven't really looked into it beyond this.

From the first time I saw that, the bed looked familiar. I haven't quite been able to place it but I'm thinking it came from a small utility trailer.

Okay, so I must have been in some other world when I last posted because I completely forgot to put in the link.

Here's what the CJ5 with a bed would look like.

Re: Calling all fabricators! Need a favor

Dan, here's a refresher of what the old 1972 - 79

Datsun 620 bed looked like:

OEM NO. 93001-B5450

ST CODE NO. DSR1604000 (SHORT)

ST CODE NO. DSR1694000 (LONG)

The earlier beds (1960's) were a little more square, here's a 1965 Model:

Does Land Rover make a pick up style ? Every time I look at the bed on it, I think of the back of a Rover!!! Anyone know if they made a truck ?
