SOA Springs installed WTF!

I just installed a used set of Rancho 44047 & 44147 SOA. The back look fine but the front seem to be a few inches short. Does it look like they have sagged to you? Here is a pic from the side.

Here is one of the back springs.

And here is one of the front springs.

What should I do,

1 - get new front springs. Like JCWhitney CJ rears?
2 - get some long front shackles?
3 - get an add a leaf for the front?

I looks like the front springs are tired. Dont do a longer shackle you will loose to much caster. Either go with new springs or add-a-leaf.

Where do you get a add a leaf? I would rather not order them online and wait a week for them. Do they make universal ones that will fit these springs?

Re: SOA Springs installed WTF!

they are sagging.. you need to put REAR leaf springs in the front.. with the soa design.. it tends to flatten them much easier.. so you need the rear.. stronger.. and little more stiffer springs.. yj or cj rears are good..

Don't forget you'll need wider u-bolt plates if you swap to rear springs on the front too.

Re: SOA Springs installed WTF!

those pics may explain why my jeep is so stiff,

it has 3 up front and 4 in the back, mine has 5 all the way around maybe 6 in the back

would that explain the stiffness?

I would skip the add-a-leaf unless you are really strapped for cash. Your fronts are sagging pretty bad and an add-a-leaf would only band aid the problem for a little while. If your springs were in better shape, the add-a-leaf would be a better choice. But with as flat as they are, I would spend the $60-$70 per pack and get new leaf springs and be done with it.

Re: SOA Springs installed WTF!

Should I get the same Rancho springs that I have new? Or what springs would you recommend. I would like to get the best ride possible.

Re: SOA Springs installed WTF!

It look to me like there have been some leafs removed from those packs.
I removed one leaf out of my packs, front and rear, now my shizzy sags like yours.

But I don't care how it looks since it now flexes like a champ!
