its a cj5 chassis. 151 gm engine...4speed T4 me thinks.
1980 model year. ok... so we built a roll cage and improvised everything junkyard wars style. new gaskets from cylinder head up also new but stock valves. I have two F shaped leads and an F shaped ground...i think. now theres a ground wire from the coil AND the distributer. 4 wires total two grounds on hot one tach. it seems the hot wire runs into the coil and the distributer directly from the battery...follow me? F shaped - the bottom of the f goes to the coil and the one of the two branches runs to the distributer, the other must be the batery....right? the other wire coming out of the coil is the tach. I dont need that right? I just want to start the what I did was put a neg lead on the tach spade and a positive lead on the + spade no neg on the engine or chassis. I then cranked the engine drawing the neg through the coil for the starter. IF IT HELPS...its the type of coil mounted on the distributer. do I need a resistor wire? Its in the electrical schematic but the guy that sold me a new coil said I didnt. Please help. switzerland county indiana is a pain to hike
