Canyonlands

Anyone been to Canyonlands in the winter? I am not really sure what the elevation is, so I am wondering how much snow they get in that neck of the woods. I understand that there are some decent medium difficulty trails in the park, and just wondering if anyone has any experience in the region. I am fairly new to Utah, so I really haven't spent that much time in the area. Thanks in advance.

Re: Canyonlands

What part of Canyonlands are you interested in? Looking at a topo map, the mesa's around Elephant Hill are about 5000', down on the White Rim Trail it's 4500' to 4700'. Right now there isn't any snow but Elephant Hill area can get some and they usually close the trail.

Well, Ive never 4 wheeled there, but Ive mountain biked a few times. It can get COLD! The desert is a place of extremes, and you get it the whole nine yards in Canyonlands (my favorite park by far!) Id go in the late spring/ early fall.

Re: Canyonlands

Thanks for the info. I'll have to be sure to take the canvas tent if I go. I missed out on a lot of good wheelin this summer (changed jobs, no time off), and I've got the itch in a bad way. I'll have to check with the "Forest Circus" and see which trails have limited access in the winter months.
