CJ - CV on rear versus rear output question

I just put the t18 in my CJ5 and now I want a CV for the rear shaft...do I need to replace the rear output yoke on my dana 20 transfercase to make a CV work?

Good Luck

Yes, you'll need a new yoke for the dana 20. The part number is 2-4051x. This is also the same yoke used on that quadratrac transfer case. Hope that helps.

Alec...this part # you gave me is different than the one on your website...also, I called Tom Woods on this and they said shouldn't need to change to accept CV. Local driveshaft shop says yes required. Any others?

Re: CJ - CV on rear versus rear output question

I swaped in a Ford T18 and Dana 300 into my CJ7 and did have to have new yoke. The guy I got the CV driveshaft from sold me one with it. I got mine from Mountian Drivelines in Show Low Az. from an old man named "Dick" and he knew what he was talking about. I would trust what Tom Woods says also, he should know!

Re: CJ - CV on rear versus rear output question

I`m running the same set-up as you. Yes, you need the new T-case yoke to run a CV shaft. I had Tom Woods build my shaft also and I`m surprised you were given the wrong info, Who ever you talked to to may have misunderstood you. The other member was correct also in that the Quadra-Trac T-case yoke`s can work also.(I picked a couple up from the wrecking yard for spare`s.)
