looking for starter

I am looking for a starter for a 1964 cj. I am not sure what size four cylinder it is but it is a four cylinder. I am looking for a friend of mine. He says the solinoid is on the starter. He only uses the jeep to plow his driveway. If any one has one that they would like to part with please e-mail me back. [email protected]

Re: looking for starter

No-excuses has a couple. I believe but not 100% sure a starter for a fj40 will bolt in directly.

Re: looking for starter

I wouldn't buy a starter off this board, even the best intentioned person who only charged you shipping could send you something the wouldn't last two days. I'm assuming he's got the core now, try to find someone that'll rebuild his unless you have a bad shaft or something.

To inform the uniformed, No-excuses is an excellant place to buy jeep parts. They are located in NJ.

Re: looking for starter

As the uniformed, I've never seen the username "No-excuses" on this board. I did a search for him over all forums and didn't find him. So inform me, what am I uninformed about?

Re: looking for starter

if anybody has one for a 232/ 258 kicking around and would ship it out to me that would be great, i'm not in a huge hurry to get it because i don't pick up the postal till next weekend. For your information taz i do not have a starter for this engine to trade in for a core and would much rather pay $10 twice or 3 times to get a working starter than $70 for one and then more $$ for a core charage because i don't have piles of $$ lying around for my jeep project.

[/ QUOTE ]I expected shipping alone to be closer to $20. If you already had a core, I'd think it would be more cost effective to have it rebuilt or trade it in on one with a lifetime guarantee.
