Re: flush mounted tail lights!!!

decent prices for the lights...do a internet search for some truck or semi parts stores. They offer alot of L.E.D. light kits. I got busted for having flush mounted lights. All vehicles with flush mounted lights should have a rear left/right side marker light to signify the dimension of the vehicle at night. The officer just stopped me to tell me the problem. Thats why the factory lights stick out.

Re: flush mounted tail lights!!!

Older CJ's did not have the side marker light attached to the tailight. They had a seperate 2" light mounted in the body and on some, in the middle of the spare tire on the right side.

DirtyBoy,

I'd check my local laws first and then next time tell that officer to write you a ticket for not having the side lights. MOST police officers had to take government jobs because they were to stupid to know when to flip the hamburgers at McDonalds. They like to screw with you, especially if you're young, and quote nonexistent law.

Re: flush mounted tail lights!!!

My uncle is a cop here in town. About a week ago I had yet to add turn signals to my TJ after flat fendering it. My tires stick out about 8" in the front and had not visibile turn signals. He was over the house and as he was leaving I asked him if he would pull me over for no turn signals and the tires. He said it is illegal in TN not to have FRONT turn signals but he would only pull me over if he was lookin to mess with someone. Most of the police in TN are like that. The really don't pull you over for minimal stuff like turn signals and tires unless they are lookin to mess with someone.

With that said, when I install LEDs on my TJ I'm not putting side markers on it. I will put back up lights on but no side markers. Just don't need em. I have since installed CJ turn signals on the TJ grill.
